I wanted to create a simple picture frame for a desk or cabinet, where someone could place a 4×6 picture or card, and have it easily seen. I also wanted to make it so that it could be easily switched out, so someone could place a new picture, or a weekly saying or poem inside.
I use poplar for these frames, a simple, easily renewable source of wood, and Plexiglas for the picture, to enable it to be sturdy and resist damage (in case it gets accidentally dropped). The finish is shellac, a natural, child-safe finish, which helps bring out the beauty of the wood.
