Shop Maintenance Weekend
So, the first weekend of April was shop maintenance weekend, and I had a lot of things I was trying to get done.
- Update my scraper jig with 2x3x8” pine (the one from last month was not working well)
- Set up a feather board on my bandsaw (when I have been resawing, I did not like the results, and a feather board would help)
- Sharpen one of my handsaws (part of my continuing efforts to understand saw sharpening)
- Create a series of tool holders for the top till of my tool chest (to better organize the till). I would make one for my squares, one for my block planes, and one for my gauges
- Create some additional 3×10 strops for sharpening
- Build an outfeed table for my bandsaw. Often for the operations, I had to make sure the piece didn’t fall off the main table. This would assist with this
- Begin cleaning up one of my #4 planes that I had purchased on ebay
- General cleanup (putting tools away, sweeping, etc.)

A very busy weekend, plus I had outdoor work on the house landscape in order to prepare for spring (mowing lawn, putting in seeds, weeding, pruning, etc.)
A very busy weekend, but it felt very good to get out of the house.
