Out of it for a bit…

Well, 61+ years have caught up to me. I injured my right shoulder about 15 years ago, and though I had rehab and continued to do the rehab exercises 2-3 times a week, eventually it caught up to me. After visiting my doctor in October, it turned out the strands holding my rotator cuff up were about at 20%. While I could continue to work on it and deal with the pain/loss of strength, it would continue to gradually degrade.

I was faced with the option of getting taken care of now, when I”m younger and might heal faster, or maybe 5-10 years later, when it might be in worse shape and heal slower.

I chose to get the operation now, and had it done in mid-December. Now I’m starting basic rehab, which is going to take roughly 8 weeks. This means I’m sort of “out of the shop” till mid-February. Not the optimum solution, but I want to keep doing woodworking for the next couple of decades, so better to deal with it now, rather than later.

Hopefully I’ll get better soon. See you in the shop!

Kevin
