New Project: Small Cabinet with drawers: part 1 – design
I had a client approach me with a request to build a custom small cabinet with drawers to store medicinal herbs they use. The drawer dimensions were very specific, as they had to store a certain type of container in a way they could be easily read and accessed. I always love a challenge and doing design work, so I took it on.
To start with, I designed the drawer to match the dimensions that she wanted for her product.
I then mocked up the drawer to full size, using available plywood.
Once we had the drawer designed, it was relatively easy to design the cabinet around it. I chose to use Maple, as that is one of the least “fragrant” woods available, so it would not impact the herbs once in place. I will have to use a simple finish as well, so it also will not impact the herbs.
More in the next couple of weeks, as I build the cabinet.
