I finally completed the Stickley #74 book racks (soon on the project page, available to order). Now its time to get started on the next project.
I’m going to be building a small, semi-portable joinery bench, which I can take to craft shows and use for cutting dovetail joints and carving. Its based on a design created by the Renaissance Woodworker. I figured it would be good for demonstrations at craft shows and farmer’s markets, and help keep me from having to bend over as I do some joinery tasks.
What you see above is the lumber I’ve got to make it. Its pretty much construction grade lumber (2x8s, 2x12s, etc) that I’ve made some rough cuts on and then laid out and stickered (put slats between the boards to allow air movement). The wood will air dry for a week or two, and then I’ll joint and plane it to final size before starting the build.
I’ll keep folks informed as I move along on it.
