Next project I’m working at is a small dovetailed box, the kind that can hold candles or act as a pencil box for a kid’s art pencils. Its an opportunity to work on my hand-cut dovetails, putting grooves in and doing some additional hand work for the project.
Starting with five pieces of quality pine:
- 2ea front & back: 9-1/4” x 2-1/4” x ½”
- 2ea sides: 3” x 2-1/4” x ½”
- Bottom: 9-3/4” x 3-1/2” x 3/8”
I will also be making a sliding top, probably out of mahogany or Walnut, to set it off from the other wood. This will slide into grooves in the front, back and one side
Should be fun, and an excellent test of my hand tool skills
