End Table 7 – Drawer glue up

So the drawer joinery is cut, tested and cleaned up. I put in a dado in the back (for the back panel) and a groove in the front and two sides to hold the bottom. The bottom is ¼” thick luan plywood, which shows pretty nice.

Glue up consisted of spreading the glue on the dovetail joints and the dado & back piece, then fitting the joinery together, putting in the drawer bottom, and then checking for square.

To check for square, you take a diagonal measurement from left back corner to front back corner, and compare to a diagonal from left front corner to right back corner. You need to adjust the corners (clamp? Mallet tap?) so they match. This way will ensure the drawer is square.

Once the drawer is glued up, I’ll do some planning/sanding to clean is up, and then apply finish. The final step will be installing the drawer front to this drawer and the drawer hardware. That will come shortly.
