Sorry for the lack of posts. I’ve been doing more work around the house, and making a few things for the next Farmer’s Market (coming June 24th in Moorestown).
So the only thing left for the end tables is the drawers going into them. The plan is the create a ¾” thick front panel for the drawer, and make the drawer out of ½” oak, with dovetails in the front and a dado in back for the back panel.
So here are the front, side and back pieces for two drawers milled down. Milling consists of:
- Jointing one face and one edge of the board, to set as references
- Planing the boards down to their final thickness, using the face as a reference. In this case, they will be ½” thick
- Ripping the boards to final widths. The drawer fronts & sides will be 2-1/2” wide, while the back will be 2”
- Crosscutting the boards their final length. Fronts will be 13”, sides 16” and back 12-1/2”
The next step is to layout and cut the dovetail joints, which will attach the front to the sides for each drawer.
