Sorry for the slow blogging

I have had some health issues (back injury, 48-hour Flu bug, etc.) that kept me out of the shop for a while, and then I had to bust my butt to build items for the last Farmer’s market of the year, as well as complete this year’s Christmas gifts. Needless to say, its been busy!

For the market, I was low on picture frames and end-grain cutting boards, so I had to nock those out. For the small picture frames, its milling the small pieces, including a 45-degree miter (used the tablesaw for this), then cutting an angle on the front & back before using my router table to rout a groove for the plexiglass front and back pieces. I made some to sit horizontal and some to fit vertical.  Finish was shellac (one of my favorites) and then “rubbing out” the finish after they sat a week. Cut the plexiglass on the tablesaw to fit.

Farmer’s market was delayed a day due to high winds & rain, but the Sunday was bright and clear, but cold. As usual, the big sellers were the lower priced items for Christmas.

  • $20 small picture frames
  • $20 phone stands
  • $40 tablet stands

A good day for sales, even with the 24—hour delay, and I met and talked to a lot of great people (which is half the fun of going to those).

At the market, I got a commission to repair an heirloom table (given to someone’s grandfather by their great grandfather). I’ll probably have several posts on that as I work to try and repair.
