Well, finally got back to the joinery bench, after working on some other projects. The idea for this is to create a taller bench for doing detailed work (dovetailing, carving, etc.). It will also be somewhat “portable” so I could take it to craft shows/farmer’s markets to demo on.
Here its shown upside down, with the final stretchers on the legs shown. The mortises are cut, and the tenons on the ends are rough-cut. Still need to “fine tune” the fit so they seat into the mortises well. From there, I will drill long holes for bolts to help secure the stretchers. These can be taken out/installed as the bench is taken down/put back up again. It’s a pretty good design, and my thanks to the Hand Tool School (www.handtoolschool.org) for the design.
Hope to have this done in the next 2 weeks.
